On the weekend of December 6-7, our Chapter proudly partnered with PVA National to host an exciting Boccia and Air Rifle Tournament at the Brockton VA Medical Center. The two-day event brought together athletes, volunteers, VA staff, and supporters for a spirited weekend of adaptive sports and friendly competition.
From the opening match to the final round, athletes displayed remarkable skill, focus, and determination. The boccia court saw close matches and impressive strategic play, while the air rifle indoor range showcased steady hands, disciplined breathing, and strong competitive energy. Whether seasoned competitors or first-time participants, every athlete contributed to the electric atmosphere that filled the Brockton VA campus.
This event would not have been possible without the incredible support of PVA National’s Sports and Recreation team, especially Peter Park, whose leadership, expertise, and enthusiasm helped make the tournament a smashing success. We are deeply grateful for their collaboration and for the opportunities they continue to create for athletes across the country. We also extend heartfelt thanks to our Chapter volunteers whose hard work – setting up equipment, assisting athletes, managing logistics, facilitating wonderful lunches, and cheering on competitors – ensured the event ran smoothly from start to finish. Their dedication reflects the very best of our Chapter community.
Finally, we offer a special thank-you to the Brockton VA staff for their hospitality and partnership throughout the weekend. Their commitment to adaptive sports and veteran wellness provides a strong foundation for events like this one, and we greatly appreciate their ongoing support. Our annual boccia and air rifle tournament is more than a competition – it is a celebration of ability, belonging, and the power of adaptive sports to bring veterans together. We look forward to hosting even more events in the coming year and expanding opportunities for athletes across the New England region.
